Một đô thị hay khu đô thị là một khu vực có mật độ gia tăng các công trình kiến trúc do con người xây dựng so với các khu vực xung quanh nó. Các đô thị có thể là thành phố, thị xã, trung tâm dân cư đông đúc nhưng thuật từ này thông thường không mở rộng đến các khu định cư nông thôn như làng, xã, ấp.

Các đô thị được thành lập và phát triển thêm qua quá trình đô thị hóa. Đo đạt tầm rộng của một đô thị sẽ giúp ích cho việc phân tích mật độ dân số, sự mở rộng đô thị, và biết được các số liệu về dân số nông thôn và thành thị.
