Trước khi viết bài này, tôi đã tự hỏi mình rằng: Thế giới này có những gì ? Quả thật thế giới này quá rộng lớn ! Từ những lão làng đại thụ trong âm nhạc như Pink Floyd, Black Sabbath, The Who, The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, Kiss... đến những kẻ xâm lăng huyền thoại như Iron Maiden, Metallica, Manowar, Skid Row, Savatage, Judas Priest, Slayer, Death, Pantera, Over Kill, Nirvana, Testament, Annihilator, Napalm Death, Grave Digger, Cannibal Corpse, Anthrax, Arcade, Hammer Fall, Queensryche, Amorphis, Rhapsody, Megadeth,Guns and Roses, UFO, MSG, Aerosmith... cả những mầm non mới như Linkin Park, Papa Roach, Slipknot, Payable on Death..., tất cả cùng nhau làm cho con người cảm thấy mình thật nhỏ bé giữa thế giới này.

Nhưng đối với một thằng nhóc mới học lớp 10 và vẫn còn là newbie trong âm nhạc như tôi thì có lẽ thế giới này chỉ chia làm hai nửa. Một nửa là tất cả các ban nhạc ROCK, từ kỳ cựu đến non trẻ..., và nửa còn lại, không ai khác, đó chính là Megadeth.

Có thể nhiều người cho rằng, đó lạ sự phóng đại quá mức, khi mà một mình Megadeth dám đứng riêng thách thức với cả thế giới. Tôi cũng không phủ nhận điều đó. Khách quan mà nói, Megadeth chưa đủ tầm vóc cũng như đóng góp để được coi là chân trời thứ hai của âm nhạc.
Nhưng riêng đối với tôi, Megadeth là tất cả. Khi lần đầu tiên nghe những cú riff guitar điêu luyện trong Hangar 18, tôi lập tức bị cuốn hút ngay bởi thứ gọi là Thrash Metal, thứ âm nhạc đã làm thế giới này đảo điên suốt 3 thập kỉ. Và từ lần đó đến nay, tôi luôn coi Megadeth là thần tượng âm nhạc của mình, không chỉ vì những giai điệu của họ mà còn vì cá tính, lời lẽ đầy ý nghĩa trong các ca khúc.

Vào năm 1983, tay trống Lars Ulrich và Rhythm Guitar James Hetfield thành lập ban nhạc Metallica, và họ đã mời Dave Mustaine ( thủ lĩnh Megadeth sau này) từ Panic sang chơi cho ban nhạc. Có thể nói, đó là thời kỳ hoàng kim nhất của Metallica với 4 "hảo hán"
