Qua nhiều năm giảng dạy tôi nhận thấy rằng khối 8 và 9 các kỹ năng nghe, nói, đọc, viết được chia ra rất cụ thể. Mỗi kỹ năng đều khó hơn hẳn so với khối 6

và 7. Đối với kỹ năng đọc được thể hiện rất rõ rệt ở từng bài. Các em không chỉ đơn thuần đọc một bài đọc hoặc một bài đối thoại ngắn, đơn giản với yêu cầu cũng đơn giản như điền từ, mà các em đọc hẳn một bài khóa hay một bài đối thoại dài, sau đó phải nắm thật chắc nội dung toàn bài đọc để trả lời câu hỏi hay chọn đúng, sai tùy theo yêu cầu của từng bài. Tức là các em phải có trình độ đọc hiểu tương đối mới có thể đáp ứng được.
