Tôi có một người bạn đang đi du học ở Nhật Bản, cô ấy kể với tôi rằng trong tuần đầu tiên cô ấy được nhà chủ mời tham dự cuộc gặp gỡ giữa các thành viên trong gia đình. Mặc dù không uống được rượu nhưng vì để không thất lễ với nhà chủ, cô ấy cố gắng uống hết ly đó. Rồi nhà chủ vẫn tiếp tục rót ly thứ hai, thứ ba rồi thứ năm, đến khi cô ấy buộc phải xin phép dừng. Nhưng nhà chủ vẫn không ngừng rót rượu dù cô đã cố gắng uống cạn ly rượu rồi xua tay. Cô ấy nói với tôi rằng mãi sau này cô ấy mới biết quy luật của người Nhật là không bao giờ được để ly rượu của khách cạn. Đó là phép lịch sự của người Nhật Bản.Ở Việt Nam chúng ta, người dân cũng rất hiếu khách nhưng khi khách có ý muốn dừng thì chúng ta cũng không rót thêm nữa.

Then the owners continue to pour glasses of Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, until she was forced to ask for permission to stop. But the owner did not stop pouring wine though she tried to drink up a glass of wine and then waved his hand. She told me much later she learned from Japanese rule is to never be empty wine glass guest. That was courtesy of the Japanese Vietnam Ban.O we, the people are very hospitable but also when guests wish to stop, we did not pour any more.
