Qua gần 30 năm đổi mới, dưới sự lãnh đạo của Đảng đất nước đã tiến hành mở của hội nhập kinh tế đạt được nhiều thành tựu to lớn thúc đẩy nền kinh tế quốc dân phát triển nhanh, mạnh, đời sống quốc dân thay đổi rõ nét. Tuy nhiên, trong quá trình mở cửa hội nhập kinh tế, còn nhiều vấn đề lý luận và thực tiễn còn chữa được giải quyết, hoặc có giải quyết song vẫn chưa đáp ứng được yêu cầu của sự phát triển đất nước, đòi hỏi cần phải khắc phục ngay nếu không muốn rơi vào tình trạng tụt hậu ngày càng xa với thế giới. Do đó, cần nhận thức và làm sáng tỏ một số vấn đề về toàn cầu hóa, hội nhập kinh tế ở Việt Nam trong giai đoạn hiện nay. Một trong những nội dung đó là: Đặc điểm quá trình hội nhập kinh tế và sự cần thiết phải phát huy vai trò của Nhà nước trong quá trình hội nhập kinh tế ở Việt Nam hiện nay.
