Điều tra hiện trạng hồ, tình hình kinh tế-xã hội, sự đa dạng sinh học, hoạt động trong khu vực hồ bằng bộ câu hỏi điều tra được chuẩn bị trước theo phương pháp điều tra phỏng vấn trực tiếp lãnh đạo UBND phường và người dân sinh sống trong khu vực quận Hoàn Kiếm. Nội dung phỏng vấn là bộ các câu hỏi nhanh, dựa trên bốn nhóm dịch vụ sinh thái chính. Mục đích là để kiểm tra khách quan dịch vụ sinh thái mà hồ Hoàn Kiếm mang lại.
