Ngành chế biến nông sản của thành phố Cần Thơ là ngành ưu tiên trong chiến lược phát triển của thành phố nhưng gặp nhiều trở ngại do thiếu hỗ trợ từ công nghiệp phụ trợ cho ngành. Công nghiệp phụ trợ ngành chế biến nông sản tại Cần Thơ không phát triển do hạn chế về nhiều yếu tố khác nhau. Đề tài nghiên cứu này được thực thiện thông qua nghiên cứu 30 doanh nghiệp chế biến nông sản của thành phố để đề xuất các giải pháp phát triển loại hình hỗ trợ cần thiết. Đề tài sử dụng các phương pháp nghiên cứu như thống kê mô tả, so sánh và dự báo bằng bản đồ kịch bản tương lai. Khung lý thuyết làm cơ sở cho việc thực hiện nghiên cứu là Lý thuyết Cụm công nghiệp (sử dụng Mô hình Kim cương để thực hiện đề tài) và Lý thuyết Hệ sinh thái kinh doanh.
