Trong xu hướng nền kinh tế hội nhập như hiện nay, ngoài kiến thức chuyên môn cần thiết thì đi kèm theo đó là khả năng ngoại ngữ tốt. Nhưng thực trạng sinh viên hiện nay, không phải ai cũng giỏi ngoại ngữ. Và đặc biệt khi tiếng Anh đã trở thành một ngôn ngữ chung của thế giới thì việc học ngoại ngữ càng quan trọng hơn. Nhiều người nước ngoài đã nói rằng, người Việt Nam gặp rất nhiều khó khăn trong việc học ngoại ngữ. Một cách khách quan mà nói thì sinh viên hiện nay chưa tìm được cho mình một phương pháp học tập đúng đắn. Còn về mặt chủ quan thì sinh viên hiện nay chỉ dạy chủ yếu về mặt ngữ pháp, còn về kĩ năng thực hành Nghe nói thì không được dạy nhiều.
