Quan hệ thương mại song phương tăng trưởng hàng năm, đạt gần mốc 2.500 triệu Euro trong năm 2014. Lượng khách du lịch giữa hai nước cũng theo xu hướng tương tự với hơn 40 nghìn du khách Tây Ban Nha thăm Việt Nam trong năm ngoái. Thời gian qua, hai bên có nhiều hợp tác trong lĩnh vực phát triển như thực hiện các chương trình giảm nghèo, giới và môi trường. Không chỉ về số lượng, các chương trình còn tập trung vào chất lượng, đảm bảo thực hiện hiệu quả, phối hợp chặt chẽ giữa cơ quan hợp tác của Tây Ban Nha với các cơ quan liên quan của Việt Nam.
