Thiết kế được lấy cảm hứng từ phong trào Flower power cùng với những người gọi mình là Hippie. Khởi thủy của phong trào hippie là thuyết hiện sinh (Existentialism), ra đời ở Pháp những năm cuối Thế chiến II. Khi thế giới bước tới nền văn minh đại công nghiệp, con người dần trở nên thụ động về tư duy, chịu sự chi phối cực đoan của chính trị, máy móc và nhu cầu vật chất. Mâu thuẫn giữa con người với xã hội (hay nền văn minh), giữa các tập đoàn kinh tế – chính trị với nhau, giữa các cộng đồng – quốc gia – dân tộc… đã gây nên những thảm kịch sát thương (xung đột vũ trang). Trong cái guồng máy khép kín đó, chịu sự giày vò về tinh thần nhiều nhất là giới trẻ. Chủ nghĩa hiện sinh ra đời nhằm đáp ứng nhu cầu xét lại các quan niệm cố hữu và kêu gọi giải thoát con người khỏi những bế tắc xã hội (hay stress tập thể); những người trẻ đòi hỏi lối sống bớt cầu kỳ, loại thải mọi cấm đoán dễ gây căng thẳng. Cho nên, trào lưu hippie có thể được xem là phong trào tranh đấu vì nhân quyền đầu tiên của nhân loại, ở đó, sự trung thực và thẳng thắn được tôn quý như một giá trị “siêu thoát” (chữ của nhà Phật), khai phóng con người khỏi sự cùm trói tư duy, khuôn mẫu đạo đức hẹp hòi và giáo điều.
