Chi tiết vòm cuốn và hoa sắt cửa kiểu art-décor của phươngTây, phía trên có logo viết tắt tên chủ nhân:
H.B.H (Hui Bon Hoa); hai bên cửa là câu đối chữ Hán đậm nét phương Đông
Hoàn thành xây dựng năm 1925, Nhà chú Hỏa nằm trong một khuôn viên rộng lớn, có hàng rào sắt bao bên ngoài; là tư dinh nhưng có quy mô to như một lâu đài ở châu Âu thời Phục Hưng. Công trình cao 4 tầng, sử dụng kết cấu bê tông cốt thép với bố cục đăng đối, khép kín tạo một sân trong.
Công trình được thiết kế bởi các kiến trúc sư người Pháp, nhưng có vai trò rất lớn của chủ nhân trong việc hình thành cấu trúc công trình và phong cách kiến trúc.
Công trình mang phong cách Art-deco. Đó là một trường phái kiến trúc và trang trí xuất hiện và phát triển mạnh mẽ ở phương tây trong những thập niên đầu của thế kỷ 20; từ bỏ lối trang trí nặng về nghệ thuật của Hy Lạp, La Mã thời phục hưng mà thiên về lối trang trí hoành tráng, hình học, hoa lá với những vật liệu mới là thép và kỹ thuật bê tông hiện đại.

Những nét Á Đông giao hòa rất khéo léo với đường nét và phong cách châu Âu ở mọi nơi. Yếu tố này thể hiện ở cả hình thức chi tiết và chất liệu như mái dốc với ngói âm dương màu đỏ, chất men lam ở trụ sảnh, viền trang trí tầng mái…. Nhiều chi tiết kiến trúc, trang trí khác cũng mang đậm dấu ấn phương đông như câu đối chữ Hán ở hai bên cửa chính vào sảnh, chi tiết ống thoát nước mái với trang trí hình cá trên đỉnh, chi tiết ô cửa sổ tròn ở những vòm dưới mái có hoa văn chữ “vạn”…
Một trong những điều đặc biệt nhất, chính giữa hố thang, sát mép sàn là một thang máy. Đây là một trong những công trình đầu tiên ở Sài Gòn có thang máy.

Trong việc tổ chức mặt bằng và không gian kiến trúc, nhà chú Hỏa cũng là một đại diện của trường phái kiến trúc Đông Dương, ngoài sự kết hợp phong cách Âu - Á, bản địa như đã đề cập; còn chú trọng đến các yếu tố khí hậu của địa phương. Đó là việc tổ chức hài hòa kiến trúc và môi trường (sân, vườn), mặt bằng bố trí hệ thống hành lang bao quanh tạo vùng đệm thông thoáng, hệ thống cửa trong kính ngoài chớp phù hợp khí hậu nhiệt đới. Toàn bộ công trình có bộ mái lớn, dốc vươn xa để che mưa nắng, phía dưới mái là một không gian thoáng có những ô cửa thông hơi hình tròn…



Trải qua nhiều biến động chính trị - xã hội cùng những thăng trầm của lịch sử, vượt qua những thêu dệt ly kỳ huyền hoặc quanh chủ nhân cũng như ngôi nhà này; ngày nay Nhà chú Hỏa đã trở thành Bảo tàng Mỹ thuật - một công trình văn hóa của thành phố.
Ngôi nhà chú Hỏa xưa là một công trình đặc biệt, là một dấu ấn lịch sử. Ngôi nhà và chủ nhân của nó đã trở thành huyền thoại, là một phần của Sài Gòn.
