Triệu chứng thiếu S vàng lá như khi thiếu N, nhưng xuất hiện ở các lá non trước các lá trưởng thành và lá già. Khi cây thiếu S, gân lá chuyển vàng trong khi phần thịt lá vẫn còn xanh, sau đó mới chuyển vàng. Kèm theo những tổn thương trước hết ở phần ngọn và lá non, cộng với sự xuất hiện các vết chấm đỏ trên lá do mô tế bào chết.
