Thông tin từ Bộ Văn hóa, Thể thao và du lịch cho hay ngày 23/6, tại thủ đô Doha, Qatar, Ủy ban Di sản Thế giới thuộc Tổ chức Giáo dục, khoa học và văn hóa của Liên hợp quốc đã chính thức ghi danh Quần thể danh thắng Tràng An của Việt Nam vào danh mục Di sản thế giới. Quần thể danh thắng Tràng An bao gồm ba khu vực liền kề nhau là Di tích cố đô Hoa Lư, Sinh thái Tràng An và danh thắng Tam Cốc - Bích Động.
Theo đó, Khu danh thắng Tràng An đã đạt được các tiêu chí về văn hóa, Tràng An chứa đựng các bằng chứng về sự tương tác giữa con người với các điều kiện biến đổi về địa lý và sự khắc nghiệt nhất của môi trường trong lịch sử Trái đất.
Về tiêu chí vẻ đẹp thẩm mỹ, Tràng An chứa đựng những cảnh quan thiên nhiên tuyệt đẹp với những ngọn núi hùng vĩ, hang động huyền bí, sông nước thanh tĩnh, điểm xuyết với những đền, chùa,miếu linh thiêng.
Cho tới thời điểm này, Tràng An trở thành Di sản thế giới hỗn hợp đầu tiên của Việt Nam được công nhận cả tiêu chí văn hóa và thiên nhiên.
