Chính vì theo đạo Hồi giáo nên việc ăn mặc của người Ai Cập rất khắt khe, đặc biệt là với phụ nữ, mặc dù ngày nay các quy định với phụ nữ đã thông thoáng và cởi mở hơn. Tuy nhiên, trong văn hóa truyền thống của người Ai Cập phụ nữ vẫn luôn ăn mặc khá kín đáo và giản dị.
