Cải lương là một loại hình kịch hát có nguồn gốc từ miền Nam VN hình thành từ những năm đầu của thế kỉ 20 đến nay.
Cải lương được xây dựng khá đa dạng và phong phú về hình thức lẫn nội dung. Thường là kể về một câu chuyện xã hội VN hiện đại hoặc dựa trên một câu chuyện lịch sử trong xã hội cũ.
Trong một vở cải lương, các diễn viên phối hợp với nhau trong từ lời thoại và vọng cổ để bày tỏ suy nghĩ và cảm xúc của mỗi nhân vật.
