Ngày này, khi xã hội càng phát triển, một số người đã quên đi những chuẩn mực đạo đức để chạy theo những tiêu cực trong xã hội mà bệnh thành tích trong học tập là một ví dụ.Trước tình hình đó, Bộ Giáo Dục nước ta đã vận động nhân dân " nói không với các tiêu cực trong thi cử và bệnh thành tích trong giáo dục".
" Tiêu cực" là những biểu hiện không lành mạnh, có tác dụng không tốt đối với xã hội, làm cho xã hội ngày càng đi xuống. "Thành tích" là kết quả của sự nỗ lực mà con người đã bỏ ra. Kết quả đó không chỉ là một lợi ích vật chất hay tinh thần cá nhân , tuy rằng phần lớn yếu tố tạo nên động lực khiến con người phải nỗ lực nhiều hơn, tốt hơn để đạt được thành tích chính là lợi ích cho mình. Nhưng con người vẫn có thể làm hết sức mình vì lợi ích chung, lợi ích của xã hội, của đất nước. Thế nhưng " bệnh thành tích" lại là kết quả của sự " nỗ lực" giả dối, ngụy tạo. Sự khác nhau căn bản giữa " thành tích" và "bệnh thành tích" chỉ là sự khác nhau giữa cái thật và cái giả. Và yếu tố then chốt tạo nên sự khác biệt đó chính là tính trung thực. Chính vì thế mà nỗ lực để đạt được thành tích của một cá nhân hay một tập thể là một phẩm chất đạo đức tốt, đáng biểu dương. Còn những tiêu cực và bệnh thành tích cần phải lên án và xóa bỏ.
Căn bệnh thành tích và tiêu cực trong thi cử ngày càng trở nên phổ biến ở Việt Nam, nhà trường vì muốn đạt được chỉ tiêu của bộ đề ra, giáo viên muốn hoàn thành tốt thi đua của nhà trường nên đã lờ đi đạo đức nghề nghiệp mà cho điểm ảo. Phụ huynh vì muốn con em mình là học sinh giỏi, học sinh thì muốn lên lớp, có danh hiệu mà không cần phải tốn sức học bài. Vì những lý do đó mà ngày nay mới có hiện tượng chạy theo thành tích mà không cần quan tâm đến chất lượng. Đối với các phụ huynh, chắc chắn rằng chẳng ai muốn con em mình học kém hay học không có chất lượng. Họ là những người bỏ ra tiền của thật, công sức thật , thời gian thật và những hy vọng thật về một tương lai tốt đẹp thật của con em mình khi lo cho chúng được ăn học đến thành tài. Vì thế, chẳng có lý do gì họ lại mong muốn nhận sự giả dối từ kết quả học tập của con em mình. Tuy nhiên, đứng trên quan điểm thực dụng họ sẵn sàng làm mọi cách, kể cả những cách tệ hại nhất mà chúng ta đã được biết qua báo chí, để con em họ qua được một kì thi, có một tấm bằng để tìm việc sau này. Có một tấm bằng vì đó là tấm bằng được xã hội thừa nhận, rồi sau này khi có điều kiện sẽ cố mà học tiếp một cách chân thực. Như vậy, suy cho cùng phụ huynh và học sinh chính là những người đã tiếp tay, để cho bệnh thành tích ngày càng lan rộng và nặng hơn.
Trong những kỳ thi tốt nghiệp phổ thông và đại học, hiện tượng mang tài liệu vào phòng thi, tài liệu vất trắng cả sân trường sau buổi thi từng được báo chí đề cập tới. Khi biết những thông tin này, bản thân chúng ta có suy nghĩ gì ? Cả một thế hệ, cả một tương lai đất nước nay phải để những con người như thế gánh vác thì chẳng có gì kinh khủng hơn. Nếu những con người giữa vững chức vụ cao trong xã hội là những người " hữu danh vô thực" thì đó là những hạt sạn của xã hội, là nguyên nhân kéo nước ta chậm lại trên con đường phát triển. Chúng ta đều hiểu rằng, một xã hội muốn phát triển thì phải có nhiều nhân tài, mà nhân tài phải là người có năng lực thực sự, là nguyên khí quốc gia. Giáo dục chính là điểm xuất phát, là nơi sinh sản ra nguồn năng lực cho sự cường thịnh của một đất nước, một cộng đồng dân tộc. Một nền giáo dục thực sự tốt sẽ tạo nên những con người đạt thành tích tốt và trung thực. Những thành tích ấy sẽ tạo nên những bước tiến mạnh mẽ cho cộng đồng dân tộc trên con đường phát triển. Đất nước chúng ta đang tiến bước trên con đường đổi mới, mở cửa, hội nhập và tranh đua với thế giới để giành lấy một vị trí xứng đáng trên hành tinh này. Đất nước chúng ta sau này có cường thịnh hay không tùy thuộc vào nền giáo dục của chúng ta có đổi mới để có thể sản sinh ra những nhân tài thực sự hay không.
Chúng ta cần phải học tập tốt, ra sức học tập và tu dưỡng đạo đức để sau này có thể giúp ích cho xã hội và cho bản thân. Cần phải đẩy lùi tiêu cực trong thi cử và bệnh thành tích. Đó không phải là việc quá khó nếu chúng ta cùng quyết tâm " Nói không với những tiêu cực trong thi cử và bệnh thành tích trong giáo dục".
