2.1. VỊ TRÍ ĐỊA LÝ TỰ NHIÊN LƯU VỰC
Sông Đăk Bla là một nhánh chính của sông Sê San, sông chảy theo hướng chính Bắc – Nam qua địa bàn tỉnh Kon Tum, hợp lưu với sông Krông Pô Cô đổ về sông Sê San.
Dự án Hồ cắt lũ kết hợp phát điện Đăk Bla dự kiến xây dựng trên sông Đăk Bla thuộc địa phận thành phố Kon Tum tỉnh Kon Tum.
Vị trí địa lý công trình có toạ độ:
Vĩ độ bắc: 14019’24’’ - 14019’32’’
Kinh độ đông: 108004’53’’ - 108005’02’’
2.2. HÌNH THÁI VÀ ĐỊA HÌNH
Địa hình lưu vực khá phức tạp, có dạng vùng núi cao, bị chia cắt mạnh bởi các các sườn núi có độ dốc lớn trung bình từ 300 đến 400. Hơn nữa, phần phía Bắc của lưu vực điển hình là khối núi Ngọc Linh có đỉnh cao 2598m.
