DSDM focuses on helping people to work together effectively to achieve business goals. DSDM is also the technical stuff and independence allows it to be used in any business and technical environment without constraints.
Many systems development projects that do not meet the expectations of end users. Such failed projects can be classified into one of five basic types:
1. The system does not meet the business requirements that it be developed
2. no performance limitations in the system.
3. a failure in the system caused problems develop undesirable
4. users refuse to apply the system, because many objective reasons
5. The original system was acceptable, but over time became impossible to maintain.
DSDM aims to prevent all types of the failure of the project.
A basic assumption of the DSDM approach nothing is built completely first, but that 80% of the solution can be made in 20% of the time it would take to produce the overall solution. A fundamental problem with the less agile approach is expected that potential system users can predict what all their requirements will at some distant point. This problem is complicated by the fact that only the existence of a new system affect the requirements of the users because the working methods have changed.
In the classic, sequential (or "waterfall ") approach, the next step can not start until the previous step is completed and fully tested. In fact, a lot of time is spent in getting from the solution 80% for the overall solution, assuming that step never needs to be reconsidered. This means that considerable time is spent going back to "finish" step and unravelling defect from previous work has been accepted. The result is that the project is delivered late and over budget, or they do not meet the business needs since no time is spent making the request.
DSDM assumes all the previous steps can be revisited as part of an iterative approach. So the first step should be completed now only enough to move on to the next step, since it can be completed in a later repeated. The premise is that business requirements with the ability to change not add to the understanding, therefore, any work that is being wasted!
The system is built using DSDM approach address only the current needs and the imminence of the enterprise rather than the traditional approach of attacking all cognitive abilities. As a result, therefore, is expected to better suit the real needs of business, easier to test and are more likely to be acceptable to the users to work in practice.
Since the cost development of most applications is just a small part of the life cycle costs of all, it makes sense to build a simpler system that is fit for purpose and easier to maintain and replace change after their initial development. The latter is possible because maintenance can be considered as a further increase in deliveries to the overall solution.
DSDM is not just about developing new systems. System improvements can now be created using DSDM.
