Modern cinema audiences expect to see plenty of thrilling scenes in action films. These scenes, which are know as stunts, are usually performed by stuntmen who are specially trained to do dangerous things safely. Anyone can crash a car, but if you’re shooting a film, you have to be extremely precise, sometimes stopping right in front of the camera and film crew. At an early stage in the production an expert stuntman is called in to work out the action scenes and form a team. He is the only person who can go against the wishes of the director, although he will usually only do this in the interest of safety.
