Hệ thống thương mại đa phương là gì?

Đa phương có nghĩa là nhiều bên. Hệ thống thương mại đa phương trước hết được

hiểu là hệ thống thương mại có nhiều nước cùng tham gia, cùng áp dụng những luật lệ,

quy ước chung. Điều này đối lập với các mối quan hệ thương mại song phương, trong

đó chỉ có hai nước tự thoả thuận những quy tắc điều chỉnh thương mại giữa hai nước

đó với nhau.

Trong WTO, từ "đa phương" có ý nghĩa phân định rõ rệt hơn. Hệ thống thương mại đa
