Ở Việt Nam việc huýt sáo và vỗ tay mang nhiều ý nghĩa khác nhau. Trong một số trường hợp, việc huýt sáo thể hiện bản thân chúng ta thấy vui vẻ. Ví dụ như khi gặp một chuyện vui ta có thể huýt sáo nhưng khi gặp thầy cô giáo hoặc người lớn, huýt sáo lại thể hiện sự lịch sự, vô lễ.
