About July 2000. 61 provinces and cities across Vietnam has completed the program of "universal primary education" and "illiteracy". However, this time around, only 94% of the population of Vietnam know to read and write. This means it will still have a lot of work to do to erase illiteracy throughout the country. In the summer of 2000. Academic Promotion Association of Vietnam opened a literacy campaign. In this campaign, the 600 students in the higher region of minorities was taught the skills of reading and writing for 1200 people illiterate right in their hometown. In 2001, 800 students volunteered to participate in the campaign, the number of people learning to read and free up to 4623. This is an effective measure to help people in remote areas can read and write. The students involved in the campaign against illiteracy viewed it as a job to be proud of helping the person at home. They volunteered to spend the whole summer to teach reading and writing for the blind signature. Some are even preparing teaching materials that relate directly to their students. They talk about the new farming techniques and family planning. Before about them also promised to return next summer. The fight against illiteracy continued into the summer of 2002. This time, the Vietnam study Promotion decided to expand, operations to the central provinces. Currently, the number of illiterate people in mountainous and remote areas was gradually reduced. We hope soon illiteracy will be deleted in our country because more and more people join in the fight against it.
