Những ưu tư này đặt ra cho con người mọi thời đại. Cứ thế nó quanh quẩn trong tâm trí của con người. Vì thế, con người tìm đến Thiên Chúa để thỏa mãn khao khát của mình. Thánh Âu-Tinh đã kêu lên: "Lạy Chúa, Chúa đã dựng nên con và lòng con khắc khoải cho tới khi tâm hồn con được an nghỉ trong Chúa". Người Kitô hữu xác tín rằng chỉ nơi Thiên Chúa, con người mới gặp được chân lý trọn vẹn, đồng thời đạt đến hạnh phúc đích thực mà nhân loại không ngừng tìm kiếm.
“Thuở xưa, nhiều lần nhiều cách, Thiên Chúa đã phán dạy cha ông chúng ta qua các ngôn sứ; nhưng vào thời sau hết này, Thiên Chúa đã phán dạy chúng ta qua Thánh Tử” (Dt 1,1-2). Thiên Chúa đã tỏ mình ra bằng những lời nói và việc làm trong suốt chiều dài lịch sử và đạt đến tột đỉnh trong việc Nhập Thể của Con Thiên Chúa và trong Mầu Nhiệm Cái Chết và Phục Sinh của Ngài. Thiên Chúa không những đã tỏ mình ra trong lịch sử của một dân tộc, không những đã chỉ nói qua các ngôn sứ, nhưng Ngài đã vượt qua ranh giới của Thiên Đình để vào thế giới của loài người, như một người, để chúng ta có thể gặp gỡ và lắng nghe Ngài.
