Bất cứ lúc nào, Chủ sử dụng công trình phát hiện được các hư hỏng nếu không sửa chữa ngay sẽ giảm nhanh cấp công trình, tăng chi phí bảo trì công trình, ảnh hưởng nghiêm trọng đến an toàn sử dụng, vận hành công trình và có khả năng xảy ra sự cố thảm họa thì đều phải xem xét để áp dụng các cấp bảo trì phù hợp.
Các cấp bảo trì được áp dụng: - Duy tu, bảo dưỡng (cấp 1).
- Sửa chữa nhỏ (cấp 2).
- Sửa chữa vừa (cấp 3).
- Sửa chữa lớn (cấp 4).
Ghi chú: Một số các bộ phận, kết cấu công trình thường xảy ra hư hỏng được đưa vào mục 7, giúp Chủ sử dụng công trình có các xem xét phát hiện hư hỏng để áp dụng các cấp bảo trì.
