Nước dùng để trộn và bảo dưỡng bê tông phải sạch không có muối, dầu, mỡ, cát đường thực vật hay các tạp chất. Trước khi sử dụng nước phải được thí nghiệm theo tiêu chuẩn "RC structure toàn khối - Quy phạm và nghiệm thu theo Vietnam Standards-4506-87 "Nước, quy phạm thi công và nghiệm thu". Các nguồn nước uống đều có thể dùng để trộn vào bê tông, không dùng nước thải của nhà máy, nước bẩn từ các hệ thống sinh hoạt, nước ao hồ chứa nhiều bùn, nước lẫn dầu mỡ để trộn và bảo dưỡng bê tông
