Nguy hiểm hơn nữa, những trẻ em nào hay làm nhiều việc cùng một lúc sẽ dễ phát bệnh tự kỷ ( autisme ) và sẽ gặp khó khăn trong việc học hành. làm nhiều việc cùng một lúc, nên chúng ta mất nhiều thời gian hơn và vì thấy bị chậm trễ, chúng ta sẽ bị stress và lại lao vào "multitasking". giống như tác giả , Không phải vô cớ mà luật giao thông cấm chúng ta vừa lái xe vừa gọi điện thoại, bởi vì cho dù điện thoại kiểu "free hand", tức là nói chuyện mà không cầm điện thoại trong tay, do bộ não không thể xử lý một cách hiệu quả hai chuyện cùng một lúc, người lái xe sẽ dễ gây tai nạn. Nhiều người trong chúng ta nghĩ rằng đa nhiệm là cách tốt nhất đạt được mục đích công việc. Nhưng điều này là sự hoang tưởng! Thực tế là đa nhiệm làm giảm chất lượng công việc, làm giảm khả năng tập trung,cũng như làm hao phí thời gian của chúng ta
