Thời gian gần đây, có nhiều học giả, doanh nhân, các nhà quản lý cho rằng, vì môi trường chung quanh biến đổi nhanh quá, chúng ta không biết chắc điều gì sẽ xảy ra trong tương lai, thậm chí ngay ngày mai...; vì vậy, chúng ta không nên xây dựng những chiến lược dài hơi (10-20 năm hoặc lâu hơn) ở tầm quốc gia hoặc doanh nghiệp. Theo đó, họ xem nhẹ, thậm chí bác bỏ chuyện phân tích, dự báo (vĩ mô, vi mô, ngành, thị trường...) để hoạch định chiến lược; bác bỏ việc thiết lập những mục tiêu dài hơi hay xây dựng những chiến lược dài hạn; và chỉ tập trung vào việc đương đầu với sự bất ổn.
