Wan Nao (ngày 13/4) có ý nghĩa như ngày 30 Tết ở Việt Nam, được gọi là ngày chuẩn bị. Ngày này, người dân Thái sẽ nấu nướng, bày biện thức ăn để dâng lên chùa vào sáng ngày tiếp theo.

Ngày chính của lễ Songkran được gọi là Wan Payawan (ngày 14/4). Trong ngày này, người dân ăn mặc đẹp, dùng bữa cơm gia đình và lên chùa sớm. Sau nghi lễ ở chùa, họ dùng nước thơm lau tượng Phật để tỏ lòng thành kính và cầu may mắn.
