Kibbutz yahel nằm ở phía nam trung tâm Arava ,cách thành phố eilat khoảng 65km.Được thành lập năm 1977 với vùng đất định cư đầu tiên được thành lập bởi các phong trào cải cách.
Khí hậu ở đất rất khắc nghiệt nhiệt độ mùa hè lên tới 45 độ,mùa đông có thể xuống âm 1-2 độ.Đất đai ở đây đa phần là sa mạc sỏi đá nên chỉ phù hợp với một số cây trồng như cây chà là, hành tây,khoai và đặc biệt là cây ớt rất thích hợp nơi này.
Cây ớt ngọt ở đây được trồng từ khá lâu với diện tích trồng ớt hiện nay của kibbutz yahel khoảng 5 ha. Số lượng công nhân làm viêc cho cây ớt thường xuyên là 20 người và có thể nhiều hơn nếu vào mùa chính thu hoạch.
Ở đây ớt được trồng vào tháng 9 và thu hoạch vào tháng 12 đến tháng 3 năm sau.Như vậy cây ớt ngọt đang là cây trồng chính cho kibbutz yahel sản phẩm đã xuất khẩu sang thị trường châu âu,Mỹ...đưa lại kinh tế lớn cho người dân.
