Mazda was founded in 1920 as the Toyo Cork Kogyo Co., Ltd., until 1927 changed to Toyo Kogyo Co., Ltd. From 1931 the company moved from manufacturing of machinery and equipment to automotive production and the creation of the first model, the Mazda-Go. During the second world war, Toyo Kogyo focused production of weapons for the Japanese military, the most notable is the line 33 series rifle, 35 and 99. In 1984, the new company officially took the name Mazda though the products sold before all bear this name. Model Mazda R360 was introduced in 1960, two years after the company launched the Mazda Carol.
