Công ty bắt tay vào lắp đặt 60 máy dệt Jacquard (công nghệ của Nhật) để dệt sản phẩm gấm khổ hẹp (chuyên dùng cho áo Kimono) và 20 máy Muri (dệt phẳng) dệt lụa lót áo Kimono. Với 80 máy dệt này, mỗi tháng trung bình Vietsilk có thể xuất khẩu 4 tấn gấm và lụa tơ tằm sang thị trường Nhật, một số ít đi Singapore và Pakistan.
