BCG (Boston Consulting Group) là tên của một công ty tư vấn chiến lược của Mỹ, thành lập năm 1963 do Bruce Henderson sáng lập. Là một trong ba công ty tư vấn chiến lược hàng đầu trên thế giới, bao gồm: McKinsey, Boston Consulting và Mercer. Lĩnh vực chủ yếu của tư vấn chiến lược là: lập kế hoạch kinh doanh chiến lược, hoạch định chiến lược của công ty, hoạch định chiến lược marketing (cấp công ty) v.v… chủ yếu ở tầm CEO – cấp độ cao nhất trong một công ty. Ma trận BCG còn được gọi là ma trận quan hệ tăng trưởng và thị phần. Vấn đề mà BCG đưa ra đó là khả năng tạo ra lợi nhuận thông qua việc phân tích danh mục SBU (Strategic business unit) của 1 công ty và do vậy nó cho phép đánh giá được vị thế cạnh tranh tổng thể của tổ hợp kinh doanh (Tổ hợp các SBU).
Ma trận BCG thể hiện tình thế của các SBU trên cùng 1 mặt phẳng và gồm có 4 phần của ma trận là: Ngôi sao, Dấu hỏi, Bò sữa và Chó.
