Ngành giáo dục đã kết hợp hài hòa giữa " Chống" và " Xây" bằng việc tổ chức sáng tạo các phong trào thi đua, các cuộc vận động trong nhà trường nhằm xây dựng được môi trường sư phạm lành mạnh, thiết lập trật tự, kỉ cương trong nhà trường và trong thi cử, làm chuyển biến căn bản ý thức tự giác học tập của học sinh. Bộ Giáo dục và Đào tạo đã tổ chức tổng kết 4 năm thực hiện chỉ thị số 33/2006/CT-TTg Ngày 08/9/2006 của thủ tướng chính phủ về chống thiêu cực và khắc phục bệnh thành tích trong giáo dục.
