[TRANS] Hongki’s AM302 Interviews
There are so many interviews that Hongki did for his AM302 promotion (more than he did for FM302 probably? lol) and there are a lot of interesting facts, but I cant possibly translate them all (I did translate his Excite Music interview tho ;)). So I thought, I would just compile some interesting points that he shared on these interviews, here:
.
EMTG Music Special
He never thought of doing a solo. That, everyone knows. lol. But, he initially thought of doing a unit with Jaejin, as a vocal unit.
Hongki said, “When the company first asked me about doing a solo, I really pondered a lot. I told them, ‘I will absolutely only do it if its a vocal unit with Jaejin’. But then they told me, ‘We can do it next time’. I was told that it would be better if I have my solo first, as in Korea, my Masked King performance and my OSTs are received really well. I think thats the big reason”.
From the beginning, Hongki said that it has been agreed with the company that both parties’ (Hongki & FNC) opinions will be taken into considerations for his solo album. Hongki (and his Hong’s Tower kids) made his music, FNC gave him some songs too. There is one among the songs that FNC gave him that he said, “This is hella good!!” right away, and thats Insensible. Biểu tượng cảm xúc smile
The FT members really like Monologue that they even had once really thought to use it for FTISLAND. When they first made the demo for Monologue, Hongki thought that that song really has a lot of FTISLAND feel. At first, the song was arranged with more of a band sound, but then, as then it was decided that he will use it as his Japan title track, they changed the arrangement into more of a synth sound, and the band sound is mostly held back.
Even if Kings for A Day is a song that has most rock sound and is most likely to be done by FTISLAND out of all tracks in his album, it is a song that FT members absolutely said no to, as they think its too light.
His message: I want to properly do my solo, and sell well, and bring more new FTISLAND fans home. ;D

Did he feel any pressure doing a solo? Nope, he didnt. It was more of a greater sense of responsibility: “As FTISLAND”s frontman, would it be okay if I get out there alone? But then as I want more people to get to know me, I want them then to think, “Ahh.. Lee Hongki is a member of FTISLAND..? He’s pretty good! I want to go watch their Live then””.

I know that a lot of Pris think whats the point of him going solo. But apparently, Hongki himself thought of the same thing. “In a dance group, everyone has their own parts, and everyone gets their own spotlights. But in a band, the spotlight mostly falls to the vocalist. So I thought, whats the point of me going solo? But then, as I started to work on the songs, I discovered more about myself and my own charms, that I thought, ahh Lee Hongki the soloist is cool! Ahh its embarrasing. (laughs)” XD
