6.2. Ô nhiễm một số khí độc hại

Các khí CO, SO2, NO2 trong không khí tại các đô thị nhìn chung vẫn trong ngưỡng cho phép. Tuy nhiên, tại một số địa điểm và trong một số thời điểm, nồng độ các chất này có tăng lên, một số trường hợp đã vượt trị số cho phép.

Do ảnh hưởng của các hoạt động giao thông, nồng độ NO2 ở gần các trục đường giao thông cao hơn hẳn các khu vực khác. Đặc biệt tại những đô thị có mật độ phương tiện giao thông cao như TP. Hồ Chí Minh, nồng độ NO2 trong không khí cao hơn hẳn những đô thị khác (Biểu đồ 12). Điều này chứng tỏ NO2 được phát sinh chủ yếu từ các hoạt động giao thông trong thành phố.
