Là một người con sinh ra và lớn lên trên mảnh đất Quảng Trị - vùng đất khô cằn sỏi đá quanh năm hạn hán, mưa bão. Ở đây, trồng trọt, chăn nuôi luôn bị thời tiết khắc nghiệt tàn phá khiến cho cái nghèo, cái đói cứ đeo bám riết người dân quê tôi. Với cái nghèo đó thì trẻ em cũng phải từ bỏ con chữ để đi làm kiếm cái ăn cho gia đình. Chính những cảnh tượng đó mà luôn gieo rắc trong tôi một suy nghĩ “khi lớn lên tôi sẽ làm một công việc gì đó mà nó có thể cải thiện cuộc sống cho những người nghèo không chỉ đối với quê hương tôi mà bất cứ ở đâu tôi có thể đến”.
