Cùng với LH Cồng Chiêng và Lễ Đâm Trâu thì Lễ Đua Voi cũng là 1 trong những lễ hội phản ánh tinh thần thượng võ của người M'Nông, một dân tộc giàu đức tính dũng cảm, có kinh nghiệm trong những cuộc săn bắt voi rừng. Thường được tổ chức vào 24-25/9 âm lịch hằng năm ở Buôn đôn hoặc các cánh rừng thưa ven sông Sepepok(Daklac) và với khung cảnh hùng vĩ của thiên nhiên Tây Nguyên - nơi diễn ra cuộc đua voi đặc sắc - đã làm tăng lên bội phần chất hùng tráng trong ngày hội cổ truyền của họ.
