Thứ nhất, việc gia nhập CISG sẽ giúp thống nhất pháp luật về mua bán hàng hóa quốc tế của Việt Nam với nhiều quốc gia trên thế giới
Với tính chất là một văn bản thống nhất luật, Công ước Viên 1980 đã thống nhất hoá được nhiều mâu thuẫn giữa các hệ thống pháp luật khác nhau trên thế giới, đóng vai trò quan trọng trong việc giải quyết các xung đột pháp luật trong thương mại quốc tế và thúc đẩy thương mại quốc tế phát triển. Vì vậy, khi Việt Nam gia nhập CISG, Việt Nam cũng sẽ được hưởng những lợi ích do văn bản thống nhất luật này mang lại, đó là giảm bớt xung đột pháp luật trong lĩnh vực mua bán hàng hóa quốc tế, tạo khung pháp luật thống nhất, hiện đại trong lĩnh vực mua bán hàng hóa, một lĩnh vực vẫn luôn chiếm tỷ trọng lớn trong thương mại quốc tế của Việt Nam.
