Việt Nam là một trong những thành viên sáng lập ra Diễn đàn hợp tác Á –Âu mà nòng cốt thực chất là quan hệ ASEAN – EU. Qua 5 Hội nghị Thượng đỉnh, Việt Nam có nhiều đóng góp cho tiến trình này nhằm tăng cường hợp tác giữa 2 châu lục. Đặc biệt là tổ chức thành công rực rỡ Hội nghị thượng đỉnh ASEM lần thứ 5 tại Hà Nội tháng 10 năm 2004, là đóng góp quan trọng của Việt Nam.

Vietnam is one of the founding members of out cooperation Forum Asia-Europe which is essentially core ASEAN-EU relations. Through 5 Summit, Vietnam has much to contribute to this process in order to enhance cooperation between the two continents. Especially successful ASEM Summit brilliantly the 5th in Hanoi in October 2004, is an important contribution of Vietnam.
