Thay mặt Chính phủ, Thủ tướng Nguyễn Tấn Dũng đánh giá cao, biểu dương hoạt động của Hội Nhà báo Việt Nam trong thời gian qua, đồng thời mong muốn các cấp Hội nhà báo tiếp tục phát huy truyền thống tốt đẹp của mình, làm tốt hơn nữa chức năng, nhiệm vụ được giao; tiếp tục thực hiện các Chỉ thị, văn bản chỉ đạo của Trung ương liên quan đến nâng cao chất lượng hoạt động của hội nhà báo trong thời kỳ mới cũng như đẩy mạnh toàn diện hoạt động của các cấp hội.
Thủ tướng Nguyễn Tấn Dũng nhấn mạnh: Trước hết tiếp tục làm tốt công tác phối hợp với Ban Tuyên giáo trung ương, Bộ Thông tin và Truyền thông để quản lý, chỉ đạo các loại hình báo chí để báo chí thực hiện tốt chức năng, nhiệm vụ được giao, nâng cao chất lượng hoạt động, tạo sự đồng thuận trong xã hội...
Thủ tướng Nguyễn Tấn Dũng cũng đề nghị Hội Nhà báo Việt Nam tăng cường chỉ đạo, kiểm tra, giám sát, hướng dẫn, bồi dưỡng nghiệp vụ cho các cấp hội, nhất là tạo sự gắn kết giữa các cấp hội, thực hiện tốt 9 điều quy định về đạo đức nghề nghiệp của người làm báo và nâng cao hiệu quả thực hiện Chỉ thị 03 của Bộ Chính trị về đẩy mạnh học tập và làm theo tấm gương đạo đức Hồ Chí Minh.
Thủ tướng cũng giao Bộ Tài chính tính toán kinh phí để đảm bảo tăng cường bồi dưỡng chính trị, đạo đức nghề nghiệp và nâng cao trình độ, nghiệp vụ cho cán bộ, hội viên hội nhà báo Việt Nam.
Thủ tướng cũng hoan nghênh Hội Nhà báo Việt Nam đổi mới, nâng cao chất lượng và hiệu quả Giải báo chí quốc gia lần thứ 7.
Thủ tướng lưu ý Hội nhà báo Việt Nam tính toán bộ máy để chuẩn bị tiếp quản, vận hành, khai thác và sử dụng Trung tâm bồi dưỡng nghiệp vụ báo chí, đồng thời đẩy mạnh và mở rộng hoạt động đối ngoại nhằm tăng cường giao lưu nghiệp vụ, thắt chặt tình hữu nghị và đẩy mạnh hợp tác với giới báo chí quốc tế.
