Quốc hội Việt Nam họp thường lệ mỗi năm 2 kỳ do Uỷ ban thường vụ Quốc hội triệu tập. Uỷ ban thường vụ Quốc hội có thể triệu tập phiên họp bất thường theo quyết định của mình, hoặc khi Chủ tịch nước, Thủ tướng Chính phủ hoặc khi có ít nhất 1/3 tổng số Đại biểu Quốc hội yêu cầu. Các cuộc họp của Quốc hội đều công khai, một số được truyền hình trực tiếp, phát sóng toàn quốc và ra nước ngoài. Quốc hội Việt Nam cũng có thể họp kín theo đề nghị của Uỷ ban thường vụ Quốc hội, Chủ tịch nước, Thủ tướng Chính phủ hoặc của ít nhất 1/3 tổng số đại biểu Quốc hội. Thành viên của Chính phủ không phải là đại biểu Quốc hội được mời tham dự các phiên họp toàn thể của Quốc hội. Đại diện cơ quan Nhà nước, tổ chức xã hội, tổ chức kinh tế, đơn vị vũ trang, cơ quan báo chí, công dân và khách quốc tế có thể được mời dự các phiên họp công khai của Quốc hội.

Vietnam Congress meeting every second year by the Standing Committee of the National Assembly convened. The Committee of the National Assembly may convene extraordinary sessions according to their decision, or when the President, Prime Minister or when there is at least 1/3 of the total number of Deputies asked. Meetings of the Parliament are public, some are televised, broadcast nationally and abroad. The National Assembly of Vietnam may also be closed meeting of the Committee of the National Assembly, the State President, the Prime Minister or of at least 1/3 of the total number of Deputies. Members of the Government not the deputies are invited to attend the plenary session of the Congress. Representatives of State bodies, social organizations, economic organizations, armed units, press agencies, citizens and international visitors could be invited to the sessions of the Congress.

The National Assembly Standing Committee may convene an extraordinary session under its decision, or when the President, Prime Minister or when at least 1/3 of the total number of MPs required. The meetings of the Parliament are public, some are televised live, broadcast nationwide and abroad. Vietnam National Assembly caucus may also at the request of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly, the State President, the Prime Minister or of at least 1/3 of the total number of deputies. Members of the Government are not members of the National Assembly are invited to attend the plenary session of the Parliament. The representative of the State, social organizations, economic organizations, armed forces units, press agencies, citizens and international visitors may be invited to attend a public session of Parliament.
