Nạn nhân là chị Nguyễn Thị Thanh Ngân (22 tuổi, ngụ Q.4, TP.HCM) bị một người đàn ông Hàn Quốc siết cổ chết tại một nhà nghỉ. Sau đó, hung thủ đã gọi điện trình báo cảnh sát.


Sáng 1-12-2014, Đại sứ Việt Nam tại Hàn Quốc gởi thông báo đến Phòng Quản lý Xuất nhập cảnh, Bộ Công an tại TP.HCM về việc chị Nguyễn Thị Thanh Ngân (sinh ngày 24-11-1992, ngụ đường Bến Vân Đồn, P.2, Q.4, TP.HCM) đã bị một người Hàn Quốc sát hại vào hồi 3g sáng hôm qua (30-11).
Chị Ngân bị giết tại phòng 208 của một nhà nghỉ tại Jeju.
Theo thông báo của cảnh sát Hàn Quốc, chị Ngân kết hôn với ông Kim Hyun Jun vào ngày 26-4-2012 và nhập cảnh Hàn Quốc tháng 6-2012. Qua tìm hiểu, đại sứ quán sơ bộ được biết chị Ngân đã ly hôn chồng và bỏ ra ngoài lưu trú bất hợp pháp.
Gia đình chị Ngân tại Việt Nam cho biết chị Ngân chưa về Việt Nam lần nào kể từ khi chị sang Hàn Quốc và cũng rất ít khi liên lạc với gia đình.
