Mục đích cuối cùng của giáo dục là đào tạo những con người hữu ích cho xã hội, phải có kiến thức kỹ năng sáng tạo phù hợp với kỷ nguyên phát triển hội nhập, nhưng đồng thời cũng phải có ý thức dân tộc phục vụ cống hiến cho xã hội và phải có sức khoẻ để lao động. Cả ba yêu cầu đào tạo này là một quá trình công phu lâu dài từ một đứa trẻ mới sinh cho đến tuổi trưởng thành. Hiện nay, nền giáo dục Việt Nam đang mang căn bệnh nan giải có nguy cơ đe dọa cả tương lai của dân tộc. Đây là căn bệnh chạy theo thành tích ảo, chạy theo bằng cấp, chỉ lo đào tạo cái thầy biết hoặc trường muốn dạy chứ không đào tạo cái xã hội cần.
