Thông qua việc thực hiện các chính sách, sử dụng năng lượng tiết kiệm và hiệu quả đã đạt được những kết quả nhất định, như: giai đoạn 2011 – 2015, mức năng lượng tiết kiệm ở Việt Nam ước tính đạt được gần 6% tổng tiêu thụ năng lượng quốc gia.Tương tự, ở lĩnh vực năng lượng sạch, năng lượng tái tạo, nhiều sản phẩm sử dụng năng lượng sạch, năng lượng tái tạo đã được sản xuất trong nước; một số nhà máy phát điện năng lượng mặt trời, năng lượng gió, sinh khối đã và đang được triển khai xây dựng... Các lĩnh vực này bước đầu cũng đã thu hút được sự tham gia của doanh nghiệp tư nhân đầu tư.
