Chúng ta có thể nói rằng không có dân tộc nào nhạy bén về văn hoá của nước ngoài như người Nhật. Họ không ngừng theo dõi những biến động tình hình bên ngoài, đánh giá và cân nhắc những ảnh hưởng của các trào lưu và xu hướng chính đang diễn ra đối với Nhật, và nếu như họ phát hiện ra trào lưu nào đang thắng thế thì họ có xu hướng sẵn sàng học hỏi, nghiên cứu để bắt kịp trào lưu đó. Và chính tinh thần thực dụng, tính hiếu kỳ và óc cầu tiến của người Nhật là những động lực thúc đẩy họ bắt kịp với các nước tiên tiến. Họ không đặt vấn đề phê phán hay chọn lọc khi học mà bằng mọi cách học cho hết. Sau đó họ mới nghiền ngẫm tìm ra những yếu tố có thể cải biến.
