Hiện nay, tháp London vẫn là một trong những nơi ở chính thức của Nữ hoàng. Dù không phải là mục đích sử dụng chính, nhưng một phần tháp London từng là nhà tù từ năm 1100 đến 1952. Tháp còn được sử dụng với nhiều mục đích khác nhau như kho vũ khí, kho bạc, chuồng thú, xưởng đúc tiền, văn phòng lưu trữ tài liệu và là nơi lưu giữ các bảo vật vương quyền của vương quốc Anh.

Tháp London là một địa điểm thu hút khách du lịch từ thời nữ hoàng Elizabeth I và các bảo vật vương quyền được trưng bày từ cuối thế kỷ XVII. Tháp London được chăm sóc bởi một tổ chức từ thiện độc lập, Historic Royal Palaces, không nhận bất cứ tài trợ nào từ chính phủ và hoàng gia.
