Khai niệm của WTO: Đầu từ trực tiếp nước ngoài ( FDI) xảy ra khi một nhà đầu tư từ một nước ( host country) có một tài sản ở nước khác ( home country) cùng với quyền kiểm soát tài sản đó. Quyền kiểm soát là dấu hiệu để phân biệt FDI với các hoạt động đầu tư khác.
