Lao động nữ trước hết là những người lao động theo Bộ luật Lao động hiện hành (năm 2012) quy định từ đủ 15 trở lên, có khả năng lao động, làm việc theo hợp đồng lao động, được trả lương và chịu sự quản lý, điều hành của người sử dụng lao động (Điều 3). Lao động nữ nhập cư được hiểu là những lao động nữ từ các tỉnh, thành trong cả nước đến Bình Dương làm việc và đăng ký tạm trú trên địa bàn tỉnh Bình Dương từ ít nhất 06 tháng trở lên.
