The turbine generator unit consists of a single-casing condensing turbine with automatic extraction selection and admission steam connection, reduction gear and generator which are configured in a single line of shafting. The turbine is supplied with superheated steam (HP-steam). The conversion from thermal energy to rotating energy takes place in the turbine. The nominal rotor speed of ~4500 min-1 is reduced by a double helical spur gear to 1500 min-1. The rotating energy is finally converted to electrical power by the generator. The maximum rated power of the generator is ~32.9 MVA; it is fed in into an 11 kV grid. The turbine is equipped with 2 bleed connections feeding a controlled extraction line to support external steam grid (Extraction steam) and an admission steam connection feed by LP-steam. The exhaust steam is condensed in a main water condenser where the condensate is collected in the hotwell at the bottom of the condenser and forced forward to the feed water system. The following auxiliary components for the steam turbine are required: - The drain system removes the condensed water while starting up and during operation out of the turbine casing and the pipes close to the turbine. The condensate is collected in a drain header, which leads to the hotwell of condenser. - The gland steam system is required to shut off the turbine labyrinths against air leakage and thus preventing impermissible increase of operating pressure in condensing system. - The lube oil system supplies all bearings with lube oil and carries off the dissipated energy. Furthermore there is a jacking oil pump installed for lifting the turbine and generator rotor. - The control oil system supplies the hydraulic drives with high pressure oil (used liquid is FYRQUEL EHC), such as the emergency stop valve, the control valves of the turbine and the admission steam armatures.
