Dịch thuật vốn đóng vai trò rất lớn trong đời sống của chúng ta. Dịch thuật mang tri thức đến cho những ai đang tìm kiếm tri thức mới,thúc đẩy sự trao đổi tri thức, và giao lưu văn hóa giữa các dân tộc. Dịch thuật rất đa dạng trong hầu hết các lĩnh vực, đặc biệt khá quan trọng lĩnh vực báo chí truyền thông.
Trong xã hội hiện đại, báo chí không chỉ được xem là một công cụ cung cấp thông tin chính và mà còn có thể phản hồi ý kiến về các vấn đề của công chúng. Điều tra là một thể loại báo chí nằm trong nhóm các thể thông tấn báo chí. Nó có mục đích và có nhiệm vụ đem lại những câu trả lời trước những sự thật chứa đựng mâu thuẫn nổi bật trong đời sống. Bằng việc nêu lên vấn đề, phân tích những khả năng và nhân tố mới, phân tích mối quan hệ giữa nguyên nhân và kết quả, người viết điều tra rút ra những kết luận cần thiết, chỉ ra bản chất của sự vật và hiện tượng, đem lại câu trả cho công chúng.
Sự phát triển sinh động của điều tra trong thực tiễn đời sống báo chí, công tác nghiên cứu, lý luận, giảng dạy,và học tập về điều tra cũng đã có những tiến bộ đáng kể. Trong đó điển hình là cuốn sách Story-based inquiry: a manual for investigative journalists của tác giả Mark Lee Hunter, được ban hành bởi UNESCO. Đây là một cuốn cẩm nang hữu ích dành cho các nhà báo điều tra và các sinh viên ngành báo chí trên toàn thế giới nhưng vẫn chưa có một bản dich hoàn hảo nào từ Việt Nam.
Hiểu được tầm quan trọng của nó, nhóm chúng tôi gồm 3 thành viên đã quyết tâm nghiên cứu hết mình để cho ra bản dịch tốt nhất, nhằm giúp các chuyên viên ngành báo hiểu rõ thêm và nhận thấy những bài học kinh nghiệm đáng giá từ tác giả. Trong bảy chương cẩm nang, chúng tôi đã chọn ra một chương mà chúng tôi tâm đắc nhất, đó là chương sáu “writing”. Để giúp người đọc dễ hiểu và gần gũi hơn với bài, chúng tôi nghĩ Dynamic equivalence sẽ phù hợp hơn là Fomal equivalence.

To help the reader understand and closer to the post, we thought the Dynamic equivalence will fit than Fomal equivalence.
